ADVISORY: News media opportunity – hands-on transit workshop for older adults with CT & YMCA

WHAT: Older adults have more time to go places. With a little know-how, they can ride public transit to the airport, shop at the mall, or catch an event in Seattle.

Community Transit and the YMCA of Snohomish County is hosting 25 older adultsand sharing tips on how to confidently navigate public transportation. The hands-on program equips older adults with essential transit skills, ensuring mobility, access, and autonomy.

They’ll also board a Community Transit bus for a guided ride to the Lynnwood City Center light rail station, where they practice key transit skills—requesting mobility ramps, using ADA seating, and navigating payment systems.

WHO: Reporters can interview participants and YMCA and Community Transit staff

WHEN: Wednesday, April 30

  • 11:15 a.m. program begins
  • 11:45 a.m. participants board a special bus
  • 12:15 p.m. bus arrives at Lynnwood City Center
