Snohomish County police agencies responded to almost 5,000 domestic calls in 2004. A recent general crime report indicated that domestic violence made up nearly 50% of crimes against persons in WA state. (2024 WASPC annual crime report)
The Snohomish County Republican Women’s Club (SCRWC)has, for many years, supported Esther’s Place, a non-profit day center for women and children fleeing domestic violence. What does Esther’s Place provide? First and foremost, a safe, warm and clean space to be during the day. In addition, women can get a shower, do their laundry, receive two hot meals daily and take a nap. They also connect them to resources and services to help get their lives back together.
Esther’s Place is able to operate primarily due to community support. They assisted 14,547 clients and provided over 65,000 meals. SCRWC is proud to be a strong supporter. Last year they donated more than 8,600 items of women’s and children’s clothing, sundries, and food. Their first donation this year was over 1,800 items.
